The amount of such vouchers is $6,000 across all levels of disability. Again, this amount can only be used to attain training, education, or skill development at an eligible training or education provider. About $1,000 can be used to buy computer equipment, and $500 can be used to cover miscellaneous expenses. In contrast, $600 can be used to pay for the services of a vocational counselor or a placement agency.

Who is Eligible for a Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit (SJDB) Voucher?

Every employee who was injured from Jan 1, 2004, to Dec 31, 2012, and suffered an injury that led to permanent partial disability and wasn’t able to return to work for the same employer within 60 days of termination of the temporary disability can be eligible for SJDB voucher. The eligibility is not there if the employer makes an offer, and the employee rejects or doesn’t accept for at least 12 months. The benefit is made available as a non-transferable voucher that can be used for paying education-related retraining process or skill development. The education or training needs to be pursued from a state-approved or state-accredited school or institution only. The critical expenses covered by a Supplemental Job Displacement Benefits Voucher are tuition, books, feeds, and costs levied by the school for training. A receiver is not allowed to use over 10 percent of the value of the voucher for vocational and return to work counseling. The amount of money you can get varies from $4,000 to $10,000. The amount usually depends on the level of permanent disability.
